In 2019, the famous Louvre pyramid celebrates its 30th anniversary. To celebrate these festivities, the Parisian museum has planned a bunch of events and activities organized from March 29, 2019. Visitors will be able to discover the history of the cult structure and participate in activities for families, concerts and dance performances or even see a photo exhibition. The program will also be supplemented by lectures and other colloquiums, exposing behind the scenes of the conception of the museum and of the rather monumental site for the time.
The famous Louvre pyramid celebrates its 30th anniversary
This Friday March 29, 2019, the famous Louvre pyramid celebrates its 30th anniversary. Built between 1985 and 1989, the structure - which has become one of the symbols of French culture - combines superlatives when it emerges from the ground. For the realization of the monumental site, it took a budget of two billion francs (or 300 million euros), 5,000 workers and craftsmen and a new type of glass specially manufactured by Saint Gobain. The metal frame weighs 95 tonnes and supports the 603 diamonds and 70 triangles that make up the Louvre pyramid. An ambitious and pharaonic project, the proportions of which are the same as those of the pyramids of Giza!
