Don't delay and discover the other key elements contributing to the modern and sophisticated design of this splendid house!
Glass walls offer breathtaking views of the surroundings
Built in 2018 by the Australian architecture studio Cumulus, the house is a real gem, the interior design of which benefits from a decor that's right on trend. From glass walls to wood cladding, including contemporary furniture… all these details come together to create a harmonious atmosphere in which to live and relax.
Given the prime location of the home, designers should think of an innovative solution that allows residents to make the most of the lovely ocean views. And this is the role of glass walls! But, indeed, these are endowed with many other qualities.
In addition to offering great views of the surroundings, the glass walls are mainly designed to illuminate the interior in a natural way as well as to enhance the feeling of space. By harmonizing perfectly with wood, the other dominant material, glass brings a designer and refined aspect to the welcoming house. Thus, this unique duo allows the construction to blend naturally into the landscape while inviting relaxation.
Glass walls are also inviting in the bedrooms to create a light and airy atmosphere. In harmonious association with pastel tones and warm wood, this decorative element guarantees optimal relaxation while contemplating the natural landscape with a book in hand, for example.
With their clean and trendy design, glass walls are undoubtedly the first thing that strikes us from the start. However, the “Shearwater House” also benefits from another modern and popular detail that is increasingly appealing to vacation home owners: heat-treated wood.
Glass walls and heat-treated wood: the highlights of the "Shearwater House"
Intended for exterior use, heat-treated wood is highly regarded for its durability, resistance to mold, lightweight appearance and dimensional stability. As its name suggests, it is a wood heated to over 160 ° C so that its properties can be modified. This results in a more stable and reliable material than wood in its natural state. That is why it is so favored for outdoor constructions such as facade or floor covering. Let's see how the architects incorporated it into this Tasmanian house.
Preferred above all for outdoor areas and also known as torrefied wood, this warm material perfectly combines practicality and aesthetics. As for the house in question, it invites it as a floor covering of the magnificent terrace and the space around the swimming pool. Two places that necessarily require a solid coating.
Combined with the glass walls, the heat-treated wood invites itself on the superb terrace overlooking the ocean to create a soothing atmosphere where you can relax while sipping your coffee. This atmosphere is reinforced by the two rattan armchairs with cozy cushions. Moreover, to give an even more soothing appearance to the whole, the architects have bet on the curved shapes of the roof, just like those illustrated in the image above.
The glass walls also reveal a view of the modern swimming pool, which is also lined with roasted wood. Given its durability and improved mildew resistance, this material is a great choice for this outdoor area. In addition, it goes wonderfully with the other details in wood and those in white.
The generous use of wood in the kitchen creates a refined and ultra warm atmosphere while remaining faithful to the whole. The white worktops and touches of greenery reinforce this refined decor by giving it a high-end appearance.
