If in the 60s, contraceptive pills were a real revolution for women, today this is no longer the case. Indeed, more and more women are making the decision to stop hormonal contraception because of all its side effects and with good reason. However, the American company Evofem intends to change the situation by developing a brand new contraception without hormones! And while this product is yet to be marketed, it certainly looks promising. All the more so after the development of mistrust of the morning-after pill.
Amphora: the new contraception without hormones or side effects

What exactly is Amphora? Amphora is indeed a hormone-free contraceptive gel which is applied locally and which allows to maintain the normal pH (between 3.5 and 4.5). The product will also help fight bacterial pathogens. According to studies conducted so far, Evofem declares an effectiveness rate of 86% claiming that no side effects have been seen! As for the launch of the drug, the American firm hopes to be able to formalize it during 2020. If so, Evofem will automatically join the short list of hormone-free contraceptives, at the head of which we currently find condoms for women and men.
