Do not hesitate any longer and start to amaze your little girl with a costume of her favorite character so that she becomes a real creature of the sea! She could participate in the making of her Halloween costume herself and have fun with you. So, let's get to work without further ado!
Mermaid girl costume: the essential material

The mermaid costume for a little girl that we are offering you today consists of a camisole (for the upper part of the costume costume), a tail, a fin and accessories (we absolutely cannot do without them!), if you don't want to buy them in store. First, you will need several coffee filters to craft the tail scales from it. You probably have it at home. Your little girl can color them herself in the colors of the sea. We explain the applicable technique in detail a little further on. It's very easy !
The other materials needed to make the mermaid costume

• a kitchen apron
• a tank top
• a box of watercolor paint
• a paintbrush
• a hot glue gun
• a roll of paper or large drawing board
Optional: seashells or starfish, pearls and rhinestones for accessories, hairstyle and make-up.
Easy to follow instructions

Cut the filters in half. Thus, they will be used optimally. You get two scales from each coffee filter. Your little girl can color the filters herself in the colors of the sea: blue, green, yellow, purple. To achieve the watercolor effect, dilute the paint with water. This way you create the illusion of fish scales reflecting the sun's rays.

On a very wet background, using the wet-on-wet technique, you will get faded edges. The technique in question most often consists of working from a wet layer to which several colors are integrated in order to create a subtle diffuse mixture. It is recommended to use more than one color, so that the various paints blend together to create blurry gradient effects. The effects obtained in the wet technique vary depending on the humidity of the paper and the proportion of water in the paint mixture. Coloring filters is a lot of fun, right?

As soon as you have finished coloring the filters, while waiting for them to dry, color the two seashells, then glue them on the tank top using the glue gun. Cut off the upper part of the apron, you don't need it. Start applying the filters using the glue gun to mimic fish scales. Finished sticking the filters? Yes ? So we continue. If the apron is too long, cut off that excess part or the part that was not covered with scales. It's time to add the fin. Take the cardboard, draw the outlines in the form of a fin and color it. Once the fin is dry, cut along the outlines you drew previously and glue it to the back of the apron.
The accessories

Every little mermaid needs accessories, right? You can draw a starfish to cut and glue on a hair clip. This is the simplest and easiest variant. To make a necklace, cut a straw in half, thread a thread through it and add a shell in the middle to create a pendant between the two parts of the straw. And there you have it, the Little Mermaid's necklace is ready!
The hairstyle

And the hairstyle, what will it be? For your daughter to transform into a real mermaid Ariel, the red wig is essential. You have many other variations and hair accessories to choose from to complete the mermaid girl costume: a headband with a starfish, or you can make a fishtail braid on the red wig or on your daughter's hair. Add a pearl necklace in the hair to make a crown. Another simple solution would be to use a spray to color the ends pink, blue or purple and simply let the long hair hang over the shoulders. If you have enough time and of course feel like making a mermaid crown yourself. Some interesting ideas are to be discovered in our gallery.
Makeup

If you are looking for a more eccentric effect, you can “tattoo” fish scales on the face, hands and arms. To do this, use a fishnet sock. Press the mesh onto the skin and tap the desired color with a sponge. Apply self-adhesive rhinestones along the brow line, and your girl will have the face of a gorgeous mermaid! Ariel the little mermaid loves red lipstick! How she keeps her makeup, considering she lives in the sea, it's a big mystery, but it's a whole different story …
