Illuminated streets, garlands and stars everywhere you look… yes, the Christmas party is fast approaching! We're talking about ideas for gifts, trees, decorations and chocolates… the magic of Christmas! It is the good times spent with the family that create this magic. To help you offer unforgettable moments to your children, our editorial team has dug up three easy-to-make wooden snowmen from the web. Do not hesitate to invite your children to take part in creating the magical atmosphere of the party. Doing a little DIY can be a great opportunity to calm the spirits of impatient toddlers while waiting for D-Day.
Do-it-yourself wooden log snowman

To make a wooden slice snowman, you will need:
• Two (or three) wooden washers: one smaller for the head, one big for the body (optional: another washer to serve as a base, to hold the ready snowman upright)
• A drill
• A spool of string
• Sandpaper for sanding wood
• A tube of glue
• A paintbrush
• White acrylic paint
• A permanent marker to draw the eyes, nose and mouth of the snowman
• A disposable plastic plate and a food container round to glue together to create the hat
• A ribbon or felt (red or other) for the scarf
• Hot glue gun
Instructions

Start by preparing the wood before painting. It is always advisable to sand the wood well with grade 120 to 180 sandpaper in order to remove any dead fibers that may be present. Sanding contributes to the aesthetics and durability of the paint. Drill the first washer (the small one that will serve as the head) at the bottom, and the second (the body of the man) at the top. These two holes will allow you to join the two washers to each other, passing the string through them and making a tight knot.
Painting the washers

Using a brush, apply two coats of white acrylic paint. Let the paint dry for 30 minutes before applying the second coat. Once the paint is dry, you can draw the snowman's eyes, nose and mouth using a black permanent marker. The time has come to hang the man's head on the body. Thread the string through the holes and tie a very tight knot.
Creation of the hat and scarf

It's cold outside ! Your wooden snowman will need a hat and scarf. Glue the plastic plate to the round food container, as shown in the photo, to create a beanie. Then, fix it on the head using a quick-setting glue. Cut a piece of the felt to create the scarf. If you still have a washer intended to serve as a base for your wooden snowman, you can now glue it in place, so that the figurine can stand upright. Otherwise, you can lean it against the wall. And there you have it, your wooden sliced snowman is already ready! The second DIY idea is even easier to achieve! A variation that everyone can do themselves!
The rustic wooden snowman

While recognizing that the rustic style is based on simplicity, it can be assumed that the following project will not be difficult for you. To make the rustic wooden snowman you will need:
• A piece of beam or board
• White acrylic paint
• Indelible black marker (and red in case you decide to draw the nose instead of gluing a triangular-shaped piece of felt for the nose)
• Orange or red felt (for nose, hat and scarf)
• Buttons in any color
Instructions

First, sand the wood with 120 to 180 grade sandpaper. Apply two coats of white acrylic paint, allowing enough time for the first coat to dry before applying the second. After the paint is dry, you can draw the eyes, nose, and mouth of the snowman. If you have chosen the other variant for the creation of the nose, cut a triangular piece of the red felt and glue it on the wood.

Cut a larger piece of the red felt. Wrap the head of the snowman in it. You can glue the beanie to the wood using a hot glue gun to fix it better on the head. Glue the buttons. At the end, put on the scarf.

These two models of wooden snowmen can be used as decoration for either interior or exterior, depending on your preferences and the size of the wood you have chosen.
Outdoor wooden snowman

But there is one more variant that we will offer you today, more simplified and even easier to achieve than the previous one. In fact, they both look very similar. What distinguishes them is that for this one, we need a tree trunk with the bark. As you see, for this latest wooden snowman DIY, there will be no need to prepare the wood before painting. You can do it immediately.

The materials you will need are:
• White, orange and pink acrylic paint (to draw the nose, eyes, cheeks).
• Hat and scarf that you no longer wear
Instructions

You already know the steps to follow. Once again, first paint the bark of the trunk you have available white. Let the paint dry. Then apply the second coat of white acrylic paint. Let dry again. Then bring your snowman to life by drawing him pink eyes, nose, smile and cheeks.

Finally, we leave the choice of hat and scarf up to you, because we are sure that you have such ones that you no longer wear. So give them to your snowman. He will be happy to greet your guests at the front door. It was very easy, wasn't it?

To conclude, such manual Christmas activities to carry out with your children require a small investment of time and effort, but they will constitute precious memories for the little ones! You can also create a new family tradition by making a new personalized decoration every Christmas, and engraving the year or the names of the children on it. Why not ? You are already in possession of the first decoration of your possible collection! Congratulations!
Have a good end of year holiday!
