The phone while driving, a new plague on the road? Every day, hundreds and hundreds of drivers leave the road to gaze into the screen of their smartphones. Being one of the main reasons for distraction on the road, the phone while driving has become a very difficult reflex to fight! Moreover, high speed and alcohol, which are the other two major causes of road accidents, are in sharp decline.

The phone while driving, an increasingly common phenomenon

According to the French insurer Axa, which carried out a road safety barometer, the number of drivers using their mobiles while driving has multiplied twice in fifteen years, which is quite worrying. Thus, the motorists declaring to have done so this year are approximately 46% against 22% in 2004. Especially in the city and in particular in traffic jams, 70% of the questioned drivers admit to using their mobile, whatever the use.. These figures are even more worrying among young people. The hands-free kit is however becoming more and more used: 72% use it in 2018, against 66% in 2017 and 60% in 2016.
