Video: Baby Laundry: The Criteria To Follow To Buy The Right Product

Fragility and great sensitivity are essential points that determine the care to be given to the newborn. Whether it is for food, cleaning the baby's room or even laundry, parents are extremely attentive and careful, and this is normal. Irritations, allergies, germs - the dangers for the infant are numerous. Find out which baby detergent to choose in order to wash your child's laundry gently.
How do I know which baby detergent to choose?

As infant skin is extremely sensitive, it is essential to pay special attention to the choice of baby laundry. The best thing to do is simply to look at the components of the different detergents on the market, indicated on the packaging. The important thing is to look for the word "hypoallergenic" which means that the laundry has been specially designed to reduce any risk of allergy. The words "dermatologically tested" mean that the product has undergone irritation tests.

In order to know which baby laundry to choose, you must first learn to recognize the components to avoid. Detergents containing preservatives (in particular MIT and MCIT) are strongly discouraged because of their allergenic potential. These are benzisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazoline and octylisothiazolinone. Do not risk with products containing alkaline agents, dyes, optical brighteners and chemical fragrances which can cause skin irritation. Be careful, do not trust any product bearing the mention "special baby", because this does not guarantee any quality. Finally, don't forget to read the packaging to check the components!
Liquid or powder baby laundry: which one to choose?

You may have read somewhere that liquid detergents are not recommended for the very sensitive skin of infants because of the allergenic substances they contain. Even if it is true that powder detergent does not contain preservatives, applied directly to the laundry, it can soak up the latter and, consequently, cause irritation. Le Chat liquid baby detergent, for its part, can already boast of a new generation formula without preservatives, therefore even more respectful of the skin of the little ones and their laundry. It is our concern that liquid products maintain bright colors but are not very effective on stains.
Whatever your choice of detergent, to avoid any risk of irritation, do not choose products containing unwanted substances. Be careful with fabric softener, it is rather not recommended, because most products on the market are aggressive for baby's skin. It is still possible to find hypoallergenic fabric softeners without dangerous components. The only rule is to read what appears on the packaging.
Should we favor organic laundry?

Organic detergents, made from natural products, are much less aggressive, non-irritating and ecological. These products do not present a health hazard and guarantee effective washing and high biodegradability. Look for detergents with the “Ecolabel” or “Ecocert” labels.
If possible, we advise you to prefer products that have no, or have very little impact on the environment.
