Don't wait until the last moment and prepare the decor for that special occasion in advance. Our DIY project of the day shows you two ways to create a Halloween witch's broom. In combination with a door wreath, you will give life to your porch, but also, it can be used as an element of your interior decoration. You will need little material, little time and presto, your magic and mysterious object will be ready. Roll up your sleeves and give free rein to your creativity!
Why are we making a Halloween witch's broom?

It is believed that in our daily life there is no such thing as a coincidence. That's why, we start with a little explanation why brooms are so popular and still linked to witches. If you are superstitious, you should know that the broom can be symbolically used for the protection of the house. It represents a specific energy which cleanses the dwelling of negative energy. A broom can also be hung on the window or the front door to prevent gossip, unwanted guests or curses. These little rituals are considered to be magic made by women with specific powers.
How to make a witch's broom from dry twigs?

The best dried twigs for making the Halloween witch's broom are found to be grown from small shrubs or perennials. In fact, many types of wild herbs growing in the fields are great materials for making witch or Harry Potter brooms! Use a long branch for the broomstick and a few dried plants from the garden for broom bristles. If you don't have a garden, this is a great time to organize a picnic in the park or take a walk in the forest. When looking for plants, think about your home and the place you will be decorating. Perhaps you will need a few small sticks and not a long branch. In any case, our advice is to prefer natural and unique materials from your region!

Here are the rest of the materials you need:
- Scissors
- Jute twine
So, to do your witch's broom well, you first need to cut the twigs at the base. Line them up around the branch / broomstick and tie them together as tightly as possible using the jute twine. You can leave the broom with its natural look or cut the bristles a bit to give it a cleaner, more minimalist look.
Prepare a witch's broom with dried herbs

Dried grasses with long, soft strands are ideal as bristles for this type of broom. If necessary, you can soak the plants a bit to soften them. Line up the cut grass at the handle so that the ends of the bristles are facing the top of the broom handle. Tie a very tight knot with natural jute twine. Next, turn the bundle of grass over so the bristles are directed to the bottom of the broomstick as shown in the photo above. Finish the broom by tying another knot above and that's it! Easy, right ?! And besides - super fast. To give a little color to your magic accessory, paint the handle in white and black or according to the color of your front / interior. In the latter case, bet on an acrylic paint or on a spray paint.
Where to place your magic prop?

As already noted, you can decorate your porch or prepare different types of brooms and arrange them nicely in front of the house. Add some carved pumpkins, too, and you will have the perfect Halloween decoration. If you have the option of placing a Halloween pumpkin arch, put a broom on both sides and add paper bats or a typical black cat for the party.

These two DIY Halloween projects are super easy to make and you can do them even with your little monsters. They'll be even more excited for October 31st and on top of that, the witches broom is a good reason to spend some more time outdoors. The children, with bright eyes, will be ready to take off on the new toy. Attract magic into your life and have fun with this must-have Halloween party accessory!
