Home laundry: why should you choose?

As you want to keep up with all the news, you give in to temptation. But overnight, the kids are complaining of itchiness, your husband shares a feeling of irritation, and you're finally looking for something "greener". If so, you may be intrigued, as a caring mom, by our home-made, indulgent, green, smelling, and budget-friendly laundry suggestions. As for the pods, you will consider them on their own, depending on the peculiarities of the skin. Small parenthesis, to make it smell good anyway, you cannot do without a subtle aroma. How not to predose and in order not to spend a thousand and cents for essential oils suitable for household products, read until the end of the article.
In short, the advantages of homemade natural laundry are multiple: economy, availability, ease, no specific prior knowledge, antiallergic action, without aggressiveness to the skin.
A homemade laundry recipe can meet your requirements

What do you want from your home laundry? Besides that it's clean and fresh, you want it to not irritate sensitive skin, to radiate perfectionism, and to have a long lasting aroma. It doesn't exactly mean the scent booster. Doing simple laundry at home can be easy.
If you're interested in a homemade laundry detergent because you're looking for something greener, you may need to adjust the recipe below a bit. While it's definitely greener than your used commercial detergent, you can choose to add things that people wouldn't consider "green," like a scent booster, for example. If you don't add one, you'll miss the smell and freshness when you pull hot clothes out of the dryer.
Some tips to consider when creating your own homemade laundry detergent

First, never create a large amount because every skin is different. You may spend time experimenting with the formula and scents to find the one that's right for you.
Second, test where to put the detergent. For some reason, pouring the DIY product directly into the drum sometimes works better than in the compartment. Why a DIY powder laundry detergent? It is better to go for powder rather than liquid for the sake of opportunity cost, storage and simplicity. Specifically, the liquid variety takes longer to manufacture, requires more storage space, and is more complicated.
If you read the makeup of washing powders more and more often and frown at the abundance of chemical ingredients with creepy names, it might be time to give your laundry a try. It is not difficult and you can store it for a long time so that you can use it when you need it. At first, you can simply reduce the amount of traditional powder used and replace 50% with homemade. Over time, you will get used to it and be able to completely replace yours, which is currently used with safe, homemade laundry.
The natural is more and more popular

You already know how to DIY a natural shampoo or how to make a solid shampoo, a household cleanser for the hygiene of the whole house, a face mask with cocoa or with a base of spirulina. More and more people are looking for ways to involve grandmothers' tips that are no less effective than the methods used today. In addition, these proven means are much cheaper and more natural.
Materials needed for a simple recipe

To prepare this laundry, you need to use natural ingredients that you probably have in your home. You will notice the effectiveness of the powder yourself from the first wash. On the one hand, sodium bicarbonate is a natural product that acts as a deodorant and disinfectant, neutralizes the pH level when products have a high level of acidity or alkalinity, and makes tissues soft. On the other hand, the soap with which this detergent is prepared is the traditional soap that has been used for centuries to wash clothes by hand. This soap can be made from natural fat or you can choose coconut soap, glycerin soap etc.
Well, you need: one or two regular laundry soaps, 2 cups of borax, 2 cups of baking soda. Lemon or lavender essential oil is optional, but water is essential. As containers and tools, use a bucket, a medium saucepan and a wooden spoon.
Instructions for preparation

- Grate the laundry soap first. You will need about two glasses.
- Boil a liter of water in a saucepan and add the two cups of soap. Bring the mixture to a boil over low heat, stirring often with a wooden spoon.
- In another bowl, combine the borax and baking soda. Add the water with the melted soap and mix everything well with a wooden spoon. Stir until all the ingredients are dissolved.
- Then, if desired, add 15 ml of essential oil to flavor the lye and stir the resulting mixture again. Then cover the jar with a lid.
- Store the resulting detergent in water bottles or empty detergent containers with labels indicating the contents for safety reasons. Shake well before each use to mix ingredients until blended.
The above recipe comes with a fabric softener

How do you prepare fabric softener using the most natural, cheapest and most effective method to replace a traditional fabric softener? Using vinegar which helps wash clothes, softens fabrics and prevents stretching and electrostatics. In addition, vinegar softens hard water containing large amounts of lime. Finally, vinegar has another great benefit - it helps clean the washing machine's hoses from dust, soap, lime, and mildew.
To get a certain scent, you can use essential oil from:
- Citrus fruits (lemon, orange, tangerine). This type of oil penetrates deep into the fabrics, removes grease residues and gives clothes a pleasant aroma.
- Lavender: oil with a pleasant and clean aroma with a disinfecting, soothing and softening effect.
- Tea tree: a great way to eliminate fungus.
- Eucalyptus: This oil has a very refreshing scent and also helps kill germs.
If you don't have essential oils at home, you can add the juice of half a lemon to the vinegar.
Note: For more stubborn stains, before washing clothes, apply a little baking soda and apple cider vinegar to the stains and rub well with a brush.
A homemade laundry recipe that smells great and washes perfectly

- First, you have to grate five pieces of homemade laundry soap
- Add the same amount of baking soda and a few drops of orange or peppermint essential oil or lavender oil.
- Mix all the ingredients and put them in a large jar. Your laundry is ready.
The perfect detergent without phosphates, 100% harmless and perfectly washable! Close the jar, store in the bathroom. When washing, pour directly into the drum of the washing machine, for example a few spoons per machine from 4 liters. The result is excellent - the laundry is soft, fresh, clean, germs are destroyed, bacteria are neutralized, clothes acquire a light mint scent and no rinsing is necessary! Plus, they're clean, soft, like new, smell of essential oil, and your skin won't itch like laundry!
A tip option for the lazy

- Do not throw away leftover soap! Store them in a special jar to add them to homemade laundry! This will help you when you don't feel like soaking the clothes.
- Just add 5 pieces to the washing machine and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. You are ready to wash! Great, ecological, inexpensive, fast!
Notes
It is better to grate the soap on a fine grater - it dissolves better and will not remain as white spots on clothes. Do not pour too much, this homemade detergent washes perfectly and therefore only a few spoons are enough! It does not cause allergies, skin problems, even the clothes do not age and retain their color and the fabric is like new for many years.
A recipe for homemade Marseille soap laundry

Everyone knows the virtues of Marseille soap. Covered on the surface with a fine white powder which is a bit of sea salt and which will disappear once the soap is wet, it is notably this beloved characteristic affirming the authenticity of the real Marseille Soap. When it is cool it can be a bit damp. Letting it dry and harden will make it last longer.
You will surely become more independent by preparing an eco-friendly and effective homemade detergent yourself. One more reason to start the DIY process. Even though Marseille soap is expensive, the experience is worth it. To do this, you need a piece of authentic soap (50 g and whatever the color). It just needs to be cooked in a cauldron and contain at least 70% vegetable oils. Free from animal fat, free from glycerin, palm oil, preservatives, fragrance and coloring. For three liters of water are enough 3 tablespoons of baking soda and a few drops of essential oil of your choice. A fine grater, a saucepan, containers for storing the ready detergent and a funnel are the necessary tools for the manufacture.
How to make?
- We always start with grating the soap.
- In a liter of boiling water and a low heat, you need to melt the grated amount and mix when melting.
- Then add 3 tbsp. of baking soda and let stand for about 1 hour.
- By then adding 1 l of lukewarm water, you lengthen the mixture. The next day, you finish by adding the third liter of water, this time cold.
- Before bottling or jaring, wait for the mixture to cool and perfume with a few drops of essential oil.
Can we prefer homemade black soap detergent to Marseille soap detergent?

Although the advantages of homemade laundry are legion, there are small drawbacks among which we classify the clogging of the washing machine. To avoid this inconvenience, we use effective solutions such as ivy detergent, homemade powder detergent and black soap detergent. Thanks to its liquid state, it cannot freeze and does not require cooking. Quite simply, mix black soap with hot water and store in bottles after cooling. An optional supplement is sodium percarbonate.
For a quantity of one liter, you need to pour 50 g of black soap into a bottle and fill with hot water. With vigorous shaking, wait for the mixture to dissolve. For washing at 40˚C, you will get more efficiency by adding 2 tbsp of percarbonate of soda directly into the drum.
Either by hand or in the washing machine, you will have a clean, fragrant, fresh and soft wash that will care for your skin and save the whole family from skin problems.
