7. In case you are using fake flowers, go to your craft store to see what colors are on offer before choosing a palette. Most artificial flowers have metal stems that can easily be wrapped and camouflaged around the branches of the Christmas tree.

8. Get creative with color: It's fun to step away from the traditional palette, so play around with bold hues. Pick your accent tones, then use neutral tones to create balance - on this tree, white orchids and pastel peonies break up the strong presence of the metallic blue balls.

Guide

Step 1: Cut the tissue paper

Start by cutting your tissue paper to the desired size. The width of the paper should be at least half of the unfolding length. Use multiple sheets of paper - 5-10 pieces for a larger flower or 4-5 pieces for a more delicate flower.

Step 2: Create an accordion shape

Fold the paper in large or small folds until you reach its end. The larger your folds, the larger the petals and on the contrary. If you prefer denser flowers, make the folds smaller and use more layers of paper.

Step 3: Folding

Once you have completed the accordion fold, tie a piece of string to the center of your future flower. Tie on the back.

Step 4: Round the edges

Create the petals by rounding both ends of the fold with a pair of scissors. You can also cut in a triangular pattern for a flower with pointy petals. Use sturdy scissors if you are cutting multiple pieces at once.

Step 5: Unfold

Spread the folds. Pull the outer crease towards the center and carefully separate each layer. Pull a fold on one side, then alternate on the other side and continue until you've reached the last one. Keep this one flat.

Once you are done with adjusting the petals, you can use duct tape to secure the Christmas tree flowers to their place in the branches. Add green tissue paper cut into the shape of leaves if desired. Repeat the above steps to make more flowers of different sizes and textures.

If you prefer to have more rounded flowers, simply use more tissue paper in longer pieces and pull both sides towards the center going towards a center piece in the crease which is your base. Or, use the method described and tie two half flowers together with string or tape.

How to proceed ?

1. Cut or tear your fabric into strips 5cm wide and 60-70cm long.

2. Fold each strip in half. With the raw edge down, start winding the end of the fabric around itself. As you ride, begin to occasionally bend the tape away from you. Occasionally add some hot glue to the roller to secure the flower. Keep rolling and bending until you have a stem of about 3-4cm. Add glue just before the stem so that the flower does not fray. You can also put a little glue between the layers of the folded rod to hold them together.

Continue to make flowers from each strip.

How to create the floral garland?

Cut a length of twine that will fit your tree. Arrange your flowers along the string to determine your pattern and spacing.

Next, tie the flowers by wrapping the stem around the string and hot glue. This way you can move the flower along the string if needed. You have to put the garland on the tree.
